James D. Foster, PhD, serves as Associate Dean of Anatomy, Molecular Medicine, Research & Graduate Studies. Dr. Foster obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biology from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. He completed a respiratory therapy program at the University of Chicago and later earned his PhD in Anatomy from Temple University in Philadelphia. Prior to joining ACOM, Dr. Foster served as Professor of Anatomy at Lincoln Memorial University, DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He previously held positions at Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine, Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Meharry Medical College. Dr. Foster has been awarded numerous high-level grants for research from agencies including the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. His recent research interests include the use of technology in medical school classroom teaching, and he has led the development of virtual and online components to the student curriculum. Additionally, he has been involved as a principal investigator in basic science research related to the modulation of receptor activity in the sensory end organs of the olfactory and auditory/vestibular systems.
