The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) is pleased to announce three members of the Class of 2024 have matched in Urology residency programs. These three outstanding students represent a 100 percent match rate for ACOM in the highly competitive field of Urology. The Urology residency matches are announced early ahead of national Match Day on March 15.

There were 500 students who applied for the 148 Urology residency training programs nationwide, according to statistics provided by the American Urology Association. A total of 385 students medical students matched into Urology residency programs.

Match Day signifies the shift to the residency training phase for physicians who graduate from medical school. Medical residency is a multi-year program with intensive training in a specific area of medical care. In their final year of medical school, students apply for residency programs where they may want to continue their training. The students and programs rank each other respectively through the National Residency Match Program, which runs a computerized algorithm to determine the match. Those match results are revealed on Match Day. Certain programs, such as urology, and those associated with the military, complete their match processes separately and announce those results in advance.
